Modern Slavery and CSR Statement

Modern Slavery and CSR Statement

Introduction

Our Modern Slavery and Corporate Social Responsibility Statement – Wealden is committed to promoting very high standards in health and safety, environmental protection, social issues and business integrity (including sound corporate governance and transparent accounting). This includes taking all reasonable steps to eliminate the risk of slavery and human trafficking in any part of our business or primary supply chain.

Modern slavery generally encompasses slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking. Traffickers and slave drivers coerce, deceive and force individuals against their will into a life of abuse, servitude and inhumane treatment.

Our business

Since 1983, Wealden has been providing industry-leading HR, Payroll and Time & Attendance solutions to clients as diverse as government bodies, international groups, schools and universities, commercial businesses and large multi-national organisations. We have served well over 1000+ blue-chip clients in our time, many of whom have been with us for well over 20 years. We are now embarking on the next generation of our applications. Our culture is people first. We engender an open spirit where everyone can contribute and drive our future.

Our Social responsibility policy

The objectives of our Social responsibility policy are:

  • to treat all Wealden employees fairly and to respect their dignity, well-being, and diversity.
  • to require the businesses with which Wealden collaborates to treat all of their employees and contractors fairly, and to respect their dignity, well-being, and diversity.
  • to support equal opportunity, inclusion, and gender diversity initiatives within the company in respect of recruitment, training, and career advancement.

Our ISO27001 accreditation ensures the company takes very seriously the issues of data security and data integrity by preserving the confidentiality, value, and availability of proprietary and client third-party data

In addition, our policy is that Wealden aims only to work with businesses which:

  • do not employ forced labour of any kind, either directly or via their primary supply chain; and
  • do not allow children to form part of their workforce, either directly or via their primary supply chain.

Modern Slavery Act

Wealden does not support and is not aware of any dealings with any business which is involved in modern slavery and we will not knowingly work with any party who we suspect is connected with any such conduct or behaviour. In the event that we became aware of a heightened risk of modern slavery with respect to our own operations or any clients in our portfolio, then we would require the development of a clearly articulated action plan as to how that risk was to be addressed and eliminated. In all such scenarios, our objective would be to have a zero-tolerance of any form of modern slavery.

Our supply chain

A supply chain is a system of organisations, people, and activities to bring a product or service from inception to the sale and delivery of such product or service to the end-user.

Wealden’ supply chain is relatively short and comprises predominantly of professional and business service providers within the UK and overseas. Our responsible approach means that we are committed to addressing the risk of modern slavery and to eliminate its existence, regardless of whether it arises in our own operations or in our supply chain (and regardless of geography). This includes the fair treatment of employees with respect to diversity, remuneration and conditions of employment.

Effectiveness and training

We will continue to monitor our supply chain and our client portfolio with a view to identifying and managing any heightened risk of modern slavery.

We will also keep under review what ongoing training is appropriate for our staff, particularly those who manage key supplier relationships. Wealden maintains a dedicated whistle-blower facility which may be used by anyone who has questions or concerns relating to the conduct of Wealden, its people or its companies.
